Why shopping local makes a difference
Ever wonder why shopping local makes a difference in your community?
Heart & Sole has been in operation for over 7 years and over that time period I wanted to let you know how much we’ve given back to the community because of your support!
We regularly collect monetary and non-perishable food donations for the local food banks in Carbonear and Bay Roberts. Christmas 2018 we were able to donate close to $3,000 and truck loads of food to both food banks.
When we have footwear or clothing that comes in or back that is defective but in excellent or unworn condition we pass it along to the local shelters.
In 2018, we offered customers to bring in their gently used winter coats and boots that they have outgrown and they would receive 10% off their purchase of a new winter coat and/or boots. The response to this was overwhelming and it makes my heart melt knowing how many people are out there willing to help out others. We were able to donate close to 10 large bags of coats and boots to the local women’s shelter in Carbonear.
On top of helping those in need whenever I can, I also donate regularly when I can to local organizations and sports teams who are fundraising, by offering a store gift card or merchandise.
In the past we’ve also helped families at Christmas time by donating winter jackets, boots, gloves, and hats to a family in need.
There is so much more we’ve done over the last 7 years to help our community and it truly makes what I do worthwhile, my goal when I started this company wasn’t to grow it large and be successful, although that is a great plan, my goal was to be able to give back to the community in which I live. That to me is the greatest accomplishment that I could ever do.
I hope this helps you see why shopping local truly makes a difference, not only are we able to give back but we also employ multiple people from our local communities as well.
